Perfect Weather for Sightseeing

Mother Nature treated us to spectacular weather for our first full day in this province. Apparently we may not be so lucky tomorrow when we head to Gros Morne, Port au Choix and our overnight destination of Plum Point.

A wonderful view to Corner Brook from the Captain James Cook Lookout. Cook was a skilled cartographer as well as an explorer and charted a large part of Newfoundland. His maps are said to be accurate enough to still be used today. The cruise ship at dock is the MS Veendam.

Wendy and Gary at Cooks lookout.

Orange seems to be the village colour of choice for the dories at Frenchman's Cove.

This fishing vessel has seen better days. Not sure you could pay me enough to step foot on this craft... moored at dock....  wearing a survival suit... let alone go out to sea on it.

Our next stop is the Provincial Park named below. Apparently there are several parks and areas in the province that are called "Blow-Me-Down". Typically they are locations where wind gusts and down drafts can be so strong that they can literally blow a person down.

The winds are relatively light today and I've found the shelter of a rock overhang.

The next two shots are from Bottle Cove, a small well protected, bottle shaped cove, that fishing vessels will sometimes use as safe haven during stormy weather.

Lunch at Marlaines Tide Water Restaurant in Lark Harbour. Coffee, crab sandwiches and a sweet treat chocolate cupcake with cream cheese icing, suits our needs very well.

Hopefully the weather will be half as cooperative tomorrow, especially at Gros Morne.
